Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism is the unethical act of copying someone else’s prior ideas, processes, results or words without explicit acknowledgement of the original author and source. Self-plagiarism occurs when an author utilizes large part of his/her own previously published work without using appropriate references. This can range from getting the same manuscript published in multiple journals to modifying a previously published manuscript with some new data.
The OMUJEST is an international refereed scientific journal which publishes review and research article. Submitted articles are evaluated in a double blinded peer-reviewed fashion. The OMUJEST is an open access journal, published 2 issues a year. OMUJEST holds copyrights for all articles published in the journal. In the journal, it is applied to double blind. The publication policy, which is in the form of open access, does not require any fee from the authors.
All articles submitted to the Journal for publication are checked for plagiarism using Turnitin or iThenticate software. The journal requests and checks plagiarism reports from authors for article submission. Articles that are found to be plagiarized during the initial evaluation stages are rejected and not evaluated for publication in the journal. If an article is found to be plagiarized after publication, a preliminary review is made by the Editor-in-Chief with the help of an appropriate committee formed for the purpose. If the article is found to be plagiarism beyond acceptable limits, the journal contacts the author's institution, if any.
Plagiarism Action Plan and Precautions of OMUJEST
OMUJEST respects intellectual property and seeks to preserve and enhance the original work of its authors. Articles containing plagiarism are against the standards of quality, research and innovation. Therefore, all authors submitting articles are expected to comply with ethical standards and avoid any form of plagiarism. If an author is found to have suspected plagiarism in a submitted or published article, OMUJEST will contact the author(s) and request that they submit their clarifications within two weeks, and these clarifications can be forwarded to the Plagiarism Detection Unit. If OMUJEST does not receive any response from the author within the stipulated time, it contacts the manager of the institutions to which the author is affiliated.
With respect to published articles found to contain plagiarism, OMUJEST completely removes them from the journal website and other third-party websites where it is listed, indexed. As soon as any article published in the OMUJEST database is reported as plagiarism, OMUJEST creates a Plagiarism Detection Unit to investigate it. After detecting that the article is plagiarized from some previously published work, OMUJEST may take any or all of the following actions or follow additional actions recommended by the committee:
- The OMUJEST editorial office will immediately contact the managers of the institutions to which the relevant author(s) are affiliated.
- OMUJEST will remove the PDF copy of the published article from the website and disable all links.
